Each packet contains six modern full-color images of a single mission as 4” x 6” glossy photographic prints.  A cover sheet shows thumbnail versions of the six images.  A back cover describes the six images with explanations of what each image portrays.

Each laminated Fact Sheet is written at a fourth grade level and contains important facts about a single mission on a two-sided, letter-sized page.  Each Fact Sheet includes information about the founding of the mission, its history during the mission period, the Native Californians who lived at the mission, the mission buildings, and the story of the mission after the mission period ended up to the present.  A glossary of terms explains words that might be difficult for a fourth grader.

With three or four pages on each mission, this book is loaded with beautiful, color photographs.  The text describes how each mission was founded and introduces the saint after whom each mission was named.  It explains the early history of each mission, the current church, and tells what happened to the mission after the end of the mission period.  The text also tells about the Native Californians who lived around each mission at the time it was founded.  A six-page introductory history describes California and its Native people before the Spanish arrived and tells the story of Spanish conquest and colonial rule.  Includes map showing each mission and a table listing when each mission was founded.

These jigsaw puzzle are designed for younger children.  They come in an attractive box with a rope handle and contain 24 pieces that produce an irregularly shaped, completed puzzle.  One design shows a statue of Father Junípero Serra.  The other is a map of coastal California with small photographs of each of the 21 California missions.
